Historic Makerere University Marks 75th Graduation
The long speculated Makerere graduation week was sparked off on Monday 13th 2025 where graduands from different colleges celebrated victories. Spearheaded by a line of well accomplished Speakers that included Puleng LenkaBula-Vice chancellor of the University of South Africa, Ms Sylivia Mulinge-CEO of MTN Uganda and Dr Dorothy Kyeyune of Mwoyo Experience the ceremony marked another 75th year of naturing and grooming professions.
The iconic Institution’s mile stone was presided over by University’s Vice chancellor, Dr Crispus Kiyonga crowning 13,658 graduands, Among which143 received PhDs, and 243awarded Postgraduate diplomas. The Vice chancellor, Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, recognized exceptional students for their academic performance and also highlighted remarkable achievements from various colleges, including groundbreaking research and impactful initiatives. In his message he further assured the University’s commitment to enhance students’ welfare citing out initiatives like the Student Work Scheme which is geared towards combating financial constrains among students and establishment of a Disability Support Center to foster an inclusive learning environment
Enock Joel Mubiru took the lime light of the first day as he was celebrated the top most science graduate who earned a Bachelor of Science degree scoring a CGPA of 4.91 while Bagoole Abdul Latif Umar who graduated with a Bachelor of Leisure and Hospitality management with CGPA of 4.97 was recognised as the top graduate in humanities
Different from other graduations, the 75th crowning captured a number of Legislators and company CEOs not being left behind on this journey of upgrading them selves and tightening their positions sit belts for better service delivery. Legislator John Baptist Nambeshe, the Manjiya MP ,Opposition Chief Whip-Ronard Evans Kanyike, the Bukoto East MP, the Woman MP Kanungu District and not to leave out The CEO of Uganda Airlines-Jennifer Bamuturaki, Private Sector Foundation Uganda Vice Chairperson Sarah Kajingo all were among the remarkable Mak75thGrad graduates.
The full week of celebrating Victories at Makerere University’ Freedom Square was wounded up on Friday 17th with students from the College of Engineering ,Design, Art and Technology {CEDAT},College of Humanities and Social Science {CHUSS}, and College of Agriculture and Environmental Science {CAES}
