THE I6TH EDITION OF SOM INTER-PROJECT CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2023 IS UNDERWAY
The annual SOM interproject Chess Championship started on Monday 11th with the rated category attracting 128 participants and the un rated category attracting 109 participants. The tournament is organized by SOM Chess Academy at the Sports Outreach resource center, Kiwawu with participants playing in different age categories that is U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, girls category and open category. The tournament will run upto 14th and it will enable many learners to get the experience of a tournament setting since some learners it’s their first time playing in a tournament.
All Ugandan centers sent in participants that is, Kawempe, Katwe, Bwaise, Kibuli, Nateete and regions like Gulu, Masaka, Hoima, Kiboga plus a team of 14 from Kenya (Mukuru and Kibera).
