Uganda Rotary Clubs receive international rotary president
Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick was recieved in uganda oh her first visit by NBS’S Kin Kariisa and other rotary club presidents including governor Steven Mwanje in overwhelming joy. on her assumed weekly stay Dr Stephanie will be visiting different Rotary clubs and projects in Uganda
In her message Dr Stephanie commended the unwavering efforts by the clubs in supporting and uplifting communities through membership development, cooperation and purpose. She further emphasised that Rotary should be pivoted on three principles of:1 .Attracting people in clubs
2. Retention
3.Creating new interest clubs as the best approach in enhancing expansion and rebirth of more rotary clubs
According to Rotarian Steven Mwanje ,the journey of Rotary clubs in Uganda has not been a walk in a park but rather a walk of adherence ,patience, and persistence. Starting from 1921 from south Africa to the 1970’s with 4 clubs that have exponentially grown to 33 districts with 15-19 members in clubs.
Rotary clubs have been sited in sustaining community development, providing clean water, healthy campaigns for example the cancer run which in the long run has led to the construction of the Nsambya cancer hospital. supporting mothers and children through community based projects, promoting Peace with currently 7 peace centers in various locations newest being at Makerere university in Uganda.
